Too often trainers punish clients for a poor weekend of eating by purposely overtraining them on Monday. This is the definition of malpractice and reinforces a negative relationship with exercise and food. Fat loss has very little to do with exercise in the long run. Although the world will tell you different, fat loss is almost entirely about food and stress. Exercise should be focused on the preservation of joints and improvements in muscle strength and function. The two need to be thought of as separate entities. The 'go hard or go home" culture is a bone head movement that doesn't appeal to 99% of the population. A healthy lifestyle also involves enjoying the occasional holiday weekend with friends and family.
